And it’s just waiting for your all-star performance! Hey Madison at Schilling residents, have your friends ever told you that you belonged on stage? Do you ever watch movies and say ‘I could’ve played that part!’, or have you ever seen television shows where you just wish that you could have been an extra for just one minute? If so, don’t you think it’s about time for you to hone  your skills to make your dream come true? And to have fun while doing it?

FreakEngine is hosting an Open Improv workshop tonight from 7-9 pm at the Evergreen Theater. True enough, improv acting may not necessarily land you an Oscar, but it’ll definitely be fun (and entertaining to your friends!).

This sounds like a really fun event, so if you’re in the Memphis Midtown area tonight, why not stop through. Otherwise, it’s about a 20 minute drive.

Directions from Madison at Schilling:

Head north on Madison Farms Ln toward Madison Row. Turn left at Madison Row. Take the 1st right onto Schilling Blvd. Turn left at Schilling Blvd W. Turn left at W Poplar Ave. The Evergreen Theater will be on your left.

What to eat after exercising….

Greek salad, grilled chicken, bread

Whenever I’m done exercising, my first want is a big bowl of ice cream to relax with and cool down. But that’s not exactly the best way to go; burning 500 calories to gain 600 kind of defeats the purpose of exercising, right?

There are certain foods that are good to eat right after exercising. The first things you should grab are ‘good’ carbs. Yeah I know, people often tell you that you should stay away from carbs, but after a workout, they are exactly what you need to replenish your body.

Next, you should pack on the protein! On average after exercise, a person should get in 10-15 grams of protein. If you want meat to satisfy this requirement, try small portions of lean grilled chicken or fish.

Here are a couple of recipes that you can tackle after a workout.

What do you like to eat after working out?

Well, this is one way to work out…

For many people, exercising isn’t really our idea of a good time. Take me for example, I hate to sweat, so gym workouts aren’t really for me. But I know that it’s something I must do to stay healthy. Often times people will listen to music, watch television, or read a book while exercising to make the process not so tedious. Well, this girl took having fun while exercising to the next level. Check it out!

Opinion Post: To Eat, or Not to Eat…

Hey everyone! The topic of today’s blog post is: date night. More specifically, first date night. Of course, not eating is obviously out of the question, especially since most first dates occur at a restaurant of some type. But the question still remains, what do eat, and will your date care?

There have been many debates over the years about what someone should or should not eat when on a date. Females tend to stay away from spaghetti, and guys tend to stay away from…well, there’s not too much that a guy will stay away from, lol. Maybe leafy greens; they could be self conscious about little green bits stuck in their teeth.

Then again, does it really matter what you eat on a date, as long as you use simple rules of etiquette? If they can’t handle the way you eat early on, how will they handle it later?

What do you think?

There are more Lady Gaga remakes than she’s got videos!

When a mega pop star diva makes a video, there will always be a remake. Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” is still getting redone by people the world over. The newest viral video sensation is Lady Gaga. There have been some good videos, some bad, some funny, and some that make you want to run screaming from the room. This video, however, of a young man named Greyson Chance singing ‘Paparazzi’, was totally bearable. Check it out!

Vegan? Give Chef Tom A Call!

How do  you feel about having your food prepared fresh at home…and you don’t have to do ANY work. That’s what Chef Tom does. Starting at $180, Chef Tom, a chef specializing in vegan food, will come to your home (or wherever you are), cook the meal (with the ingredients and utensils that he brings), and clean up afterwards after vacuum sealing your food. That’s not half bad.

Especially when the food tastes the way that it does; I’ve heard a lot of great reviews. A showstopper of his is what he calls a nasty sandwich. Not nasty as in taste, but the nasty in the way foods coated with BBQ sauce and coleslaw can be. The sandwich is a hand-made sausage topped with made-from-scratch barbecue sauce and coleslaw, and totally vegan. :)

So if you’re looking to watch what you eat, shoot Chef Tom an email. You’ll be glad you did. :)

Do you know of any vegan restaurants around Collierville?

3 Reasons You SHOULD Eat Popcorn

Popcorn

Image via Wikipedia

Popcorn can be more than a delicious  snack to catch a

movie with. It can even be healthy, provided you don’t dump heaps of butter on it. There are plenty of other flavors that you can try: Parmesan cheese and cayenne, rosemary and olive oil, and cumin and chili powder. Now, I can’t vouch for these flavors as I have never tried them, but reviewers have said they’re good.

How is popcorn good for you? Take into consideration these three tips:

  1. Three cups of popped popcorn (what you get by popping 1 heaping tablespoon of kernels) equals one of your three recommended daily servings of whole grains and contains 3 grams of fiber.
  2. That same 3 cups of popcorn will only cost you a mere 105 calories—provided you don’t add butter.
  3. Popcorn boasts three times more polyphenols—antioxidants linked to improving heart health and also to reducing cancer risk—than kidney beans and four times more than cranberries.

Kind of makes you want to pop in a movie and grab a bowl right now, doesn’t it?

What’s your favorite kind of popcorn?

And here I thought that my dog was amazing because he could shake hands. Never in my life did I imagine that my dog could do ballet. Well, he still can’t, but the one in the video can. :) It was during season 4’s audition week 1 for Britain’s Got Talent, and Tina and Chandi completely wowed the judges and received a standing ovation from everyone. Check it out!
