Tailgating area at a University

It's Tailgating season!

Well everyone, it seems that the last days of summer are upon us. Though the warm weather will still hang around for a few more weeks, it’s still a change. I’m slightly grateful for the nice, crisp breeze that will come with fall, but I’m not too excited about the way my sinuses act up when the season’s change. Oh well.

That being said, we have to make the most out of the little bit of warm weather that we have left. Check out these fun last days of summer activities courtesy of Shine!.com:

  • Play paintball: the ultimate summer activity for the competitive types. :) Though the first couple shots tend to sting a little bit.
  • Females, pamper yourselves. Spend a day at the salon and show off your new mani/pedis!
  • Guys, tailgate at your favorite sports teams’ game!
  • Eat outdoors as often as possible. When it starts to get chilly, you’ll be nostalgic for noshing outside.
  • Attend a summer music festival! You know Memphis/Collierville has tons!
  • Take advantage of a nearby lake and go water skiing and tubing.
  • Venture out to a nearby amusement park and tour its roller coasters!
  • Just go outside for some good, old fashioned playing!

Whatever you do, make sure you enjoy yourself. Once it gets cold, your outdoor time will be vastly limited.

What are your plans for the last leg of summer?

Hey Madison at Schilling! As you all may know, Elvis Week 2010 kicks off today, August 10. I figured you’d be hearing enough about the King of Rock and Roll all week, so I’d decided to bring to your attention another band of musicians: Maroon 5. If you’re a fan, you’re in luck because they’re heading to the Mud Island Amphitheater on August 27th! If I were you, I’d get my tickets now!

For those that don’t know, Maroon 5 is an American rock band from Los Angeles that consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Adam Levine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, base guitarist Mickey Madden, guitarist James Valentine, and drummer Ryan Dusick. Since debuting in 2002, the band has sold over 10 million albums in the United States and nearly 15 million worldwide.

Tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster locations, and at the Mud Island Amphitheater. Get them now, as I’m sure they’ll sell out fast!

Are you a Maroon 5 fan?

So, just who are Jeffrey and the Pacemakers anyway? Well, they are a local Memphis band with a sound reminiscent to the the Beatles, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, Gerry and the Pacemakers and various other British Invasion groups as well as the Byrds and other 60’s groups. They will definitely be bringing some old school pop and rock and roll to the square, so if you’re a fan of this kind of music, it’ll definitely be a treat for you. :)

All of the concerts start at 7 pm and are located on Collierville’s Historic Town Square. Check the website for the remaining dates.
