What to eat after exercising….

Greek salad, grilled chicken, bread

Whenever I’m done exercising, my first want is a big bowl of ice cream to relax with and cool down. But that’s not exactly the best way to go; burning 500 calories to gain 600 kind of defeats the purpose of exercising, right?

There are certain foods that are good to eat right after exercising. The first things you should grab are ‘good’ carbs. Yeah I know, people often tell you that you should stay away from carbs, but after a workout, they are exactly what you need to replenish your body.

Next, you should pack on the protein! On average after exercise, a person should get in 10-15 grams of protein. If you want meat to satisfy this requirement, try small portions of lean grilled chicken or fish.

Here are a couple of recipes that you can tackle after a workout.

What do you like to eat after working out?

Man, I wish I were taller…

Platform shoes released by Biba in 1972

Actually, I don’t. At 5’8 I’m already towering over my friends and romantic interests. That doesn’t stop me from wearing heels though! :) I’ve heard my friends utter this phrase a good number of times, but logically speaking, there’s nothing you can do about this, short of wearing platforms.

Low and behold, there is something that you can do. Most of our stature problems stem from posture. When you sit most of the day at work or in a classroom, your stabilizing muscles in your spine, trunk, and hips weaken, causing you to slouch your shoulders and hunch your back…which, ironically, I find myself doing as I write this.

What can you do to change this? Try these exercises. One in particular is called the Standing Wall Press. It helps you strengthen the deep spinal and abdominal muscles while improving your posture.

Stand with your back against the wall with your head, shoulders, buttocks, calves and the back of your hands touching the wall. Push your body and hands as hard as you can into the wall like you are going to sink into it. Take about five to six deep breaths as you are pushing. When you have finished, walk around the area for 15 to 20 seconds. Maintain the tall posture you had gained and return to the wall. Repeat the exercise three more times. Pay attention to where your head, spine, shoulders and hips are positioned to each other. Livestrong.com

Let me know if these work for you!
