Swimming Pool, DLSZ

Image via Wikipedia

Hey MSF! It sure has been hot lately, hasn’t it? The best way that I know to cool off is to take a dip in our beautiful pool. I’ve actually been waiting for this all summer. Swimming is my stress reliever, whenever I’ve hard a hard day, I just let the water rushing past me carry me away. Swimming is also my workout. Instead of killing myself by running terrain, I may work  out in Madison at Schillings Farms workout center, but I’d much prefer swimming.

With swimming comes rules however. You have to make sure to stay safe when in any water of any kind. Here are a few tips to help you, your little ones, and your friends stay safe while splashing in those sparkling blue waters in our pool, or vacation:

  • Keep an eye on your kids. It’s easy for someone to get dunked by accident. Know where your kids are so if you see them go under you can make sure they come right back up.
  • Don’t panic in a riptide. Before you or your kids go in the ocean, make sure you all know what to do if you get caught in a riptide. The key to staying safe is to try to swim parallel to the shore. Don’t fight your way directly back to the beach, but swim sideways until you are out of the current. Wave for a lifeguard and they’ll help get you back to shore safely.
  • Take a class in CPR. This training will teach you how to perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation and the Heimlich maneuver.
  • Make sure a responsible adult is watching children in the pool or at the beach at all times.

There are also a list of pool safety tips and rules outside of  the Madison Schilling Farms pool. Make sure you consult them before swimming.

Have fun!

Blanche was easily one of my favorite Golden Girls, next to Sophia of course. Their antics made me laugh many, many times, and I couldn’t go without giving tribute to one of my favorite characters. Rue McClanahan was such a wonderful actress. Her are some of her best/funniest moments:

For many people, exercising isn’t really our idea of a good time. Take me for example, I hate to sweat, so gym workouts aren’t really for me. But I know that it’s something I must do to stay healthy. Often times people will listen to music, watch television, or read a book while exercising to make the process not so tedious. Well, this girl took having fun while exercising to the next level. Check it out!

Opinion Post: To Eat, or Not to Eat…

May 18, 2010 by akemp

Hey everyone! The topic of today’s blog post is: date night. More specifically, first date night. Of course, not eating is obviously out of the question, especially since most first dates occur at a restaurant of some type. But the question still remains, what do eat, and will your date care?

There have been many debates over the years about what someone should or should not eat when on a date. Females tend to stay away from spaghetti, and guys tend to stay away from…well, there’s not too much that a guy will stay away from, lol. Maybe leafy greens; they could be self conscious about little green bits stuck in their teeth.

Then again, does it really matter what you eat on a date, as long as you use simple rules of etiquette? If they can’t handle the way you eat early on, how will they handle it later?

What do you think?

When a mega pop star diva makes a video, there will always be a remake. Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” is still getting redone by people the world over. The newest viral video sensation is Lady Gaga. There have been some good videos, some bad, some funny, and some that make you want to run screaming from the room. This video, however, of a young man named Greyson Chance singing ‘Paparazzi’, was totally bearable. Check it out!

And here I thought that my dog was amazing because he could shake hands. Never in my life did I imagine that my dog could do ballet. Well, he still can’t, but the one in the video can. :) It was during season 4’s audition week 1 for Britain’s Got Talent, and Tina and Chandi completely wowed the judges and received a standing ovation from everyone. Check it out!

It’s an Eclipse! Well, not really…

Any Twilight fans out there? Well if you are, stand up and join millions of fans who share your love for the series as they revel in the last of the Eclipse trailers launch. If you’re not a Twilight fan, you may want to go and hide in the recess corners of the internet, because the trailer and views of the series will be all over the internet for the next couple of weeks. I don’t even want to imagine the internet blow out when the film premieres on June 30th.

I’m still on the fence about the series, though I love vampire movies for some reason. What about you? Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? Or are you just wishing for the Twilight saga to be over?
